Technical Questions About Our CDs
- I use a MAC computer. Can I use your CDs on it ? Our CDs are meant for Microsoft Windows compatible machines. They can, however, be used on MAC and Linux computers if you have the proper emulation or direct-read software.
- Would you be able to supply such software to me ? It is impossible for us to keep track of the types of machines used worldwide, so will not be able to supply any such software. We suggest that you seek the help of your friends and the local computer power-user to help you. Our CDs contain videos, audio, and Text. The Text would be in html, PDF, CHM, and even Exe format.
- Here is a typical email of the type we sometimes get, and for which the student himself was able to find a solution.
Letter I received the course materials for the M.Th. yesterday evening. Thank you for sending them! I am eager to start working on the degree. The CDs that are strictly MP3s sound fine. The computer programs all run well. However, I am not able to open any of the VCDs. Whenever I insert them into my computer, the "Autoplay" feature virtually locks the computer. After I end the "Autoplay" feature (which takes a couple of minutes to stop) I cannot open it in Windows Media Player, nor in
QuickTime. I cannot even access the information on the VCDs from Windows Explorer. Is there something special that I need for the VCDs that I am not aware of ? JF
Follow-up Letter from the student I worked at getting the VCDs to work, and I found out the problems. I had to 1) download the most current Windows Media Player (which can handle the type of MPEG that the VCDs use) and 2) I had to turn off the autoplay feature of my CD-ROM drive (which is what was locking up the computer). Now my media player can handle the file type of the VCDs and I control what application(s) try to handle the VCDs. I hope that my previous e-mail did not cause you any unnecessary work. Thank you again for sending the courses. I have verified that I can read and use all CDs that were sent (and my wife and I ended up watching the first lecture of Creationism Evangelism: fascinating!). I now look forward to officially undertaking the M.Th.! Thanks again for your ministry. Your brother in Christ, JF
