Things Christians Should Hate And Why?

“He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.” (Proverbs 28:9)

Many Christians are deceived in believing that because of their humanity and imperfections that God does not require them to live righteous lives. If we read the Bible and it says that we must live righteously, why would anyone think that they are exempt from living a righteous life when God is no respecter of persons? The reason is mind manipulation and the worldview.

The world has convinced many to think that showing weakness is a sign of being human, giving into sin is a natural act, and resisting God demonstrates intellect and strength. The bleeding-heart-liberals choose to cry, complain, be hurt and offended by any and everything. Wanting to fight causes that are really not causes, but effects from a lack of God and absolutely no Bible truth. Not too long ago the United States had a president name Bill Clinton, who had sexual relations with a young female intern in the White House and denied all accusations. After an extensive investigation, he was found guilty. The American liberals and democrats cheered him on and supported him because of humanity, while others saw him as an adulterous liar who was not fit to lead the country. Why even today, so many Christians believe that Bill Clinton was one of the best presidents of the U.S.?

Is it because America did not go to war during his term in office or is it because they can relate to his sinful behavior? Why is it so easy to forgive what the Bible says is abominable to God, adultery, committed by an apostate, than it is to trust a president who has openly profess having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, when he says we must go to war (President George W. Bush)? Jesus clearly states “and you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass but the end is not yet” (Matthew 24:6). This is just prophecy being fulfilled. In addition, is this not the reason why men and women join the Armed Forces, so that when the time comes they are ready for war? Yes people are dying, but many are being saved.

There are infestations of philosophical ideas that swarm society that speaks there is no God; everything is God or we all can be gods. These are the Atheists, Humanists, Christian Cults, New Agers, Satanists and so many others who view themselves as either intellectual or spiritual. Everyone has something to say, but very few are listening to the Word of the Lord and even fewer are adhering to what they hear. All of these ideas and views are confusing heathens and Christians alike. But I tell you the truth, for clarity, read the Bible. You will discover all that humankind is experiencing today, were also experienced thousands of years ago. It is time for Christians to read, study and meditate on the Word of God, to combat against the world’s false ideas and tricks to convince you to develop a worldview and not a Christian view.

The things Christians should hate are the very same things God hates. God hates all manner of sin and so should the Christian hate all manner of sin. While man tries to rationalize certain sin and make excuses about being imperfect, God still judges all sin the same. The penalty for sin is death and if you support or approve of any part of evildoing you will be judged the same.

Here is one of the most extensive list of abominations, found in Romans 1:29-31, “being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful;” all are deserving of death according to verse 32, “who knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.” Which denotes that those who commit these abominations are very much aware of their wrongdoing, but insist on fulfilling the lust of their hearts and desire to please the flesh that they willfully rebel against God.

Christians are to seek good and not evil, therefore hating evil and loving that which is good (Amos 5:14-15). Everything that is contrary to what God commands us to do written in the Bible, is evil. Hence, it must be hated. For if it is against the Word of God it is of the devil and it is impossible to serve two masters; for you will hate one and love the other (Matthew 6:24). The Bible declares that keeping the commandments is another way of expressing love towards God (John 14:15). Also, extending love to the sinner does not mean we condone their sin. The Scriptures instruct Christians to display brotherly love at all times (Hebrews 13:1; 1st Peter 2:17). We are to love the sinner, but despise the sin. For this, we shall be blessed for our obedience, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land;” Isaiah 1:19.

The World’s Acceptance And God’s Rejection

“An unjust man is an abomination to the righteous, and he who is upright in the way is an abomination to the wicked.” (Proverbs 29:27, NKJV)

The world advises that having safe sex will save your life, but the Bible declares that abstaining from sex until marriage will save your soul (1st Peter 2:11; Acts 15:20). “Whoever seeks to save his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it” (Luke 17:33). God teaches us that when we sacrifice for a righteous cause according to His Word we are preserved. The Lord knows that abstaining from sexual immorality and other defilements in a society that promotes and support illicit behavior, can be a challenge, but He declares that He will be our strength in times of weakness (2nd Corinthian 12:9).

The world believes that drinking sociably is acceptable and harmless, but the Bible instructs us not to gaze upon wine when it is red and sparkles in the cup (fermented) for it is harmful and destructive (Proverbs 23:31; Proverbs 20:1). “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our God and Savior Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:11-13). Anything that causes us to behave contrary to God’s Word is harmful to the Believer’s walk with Christ and destructive to his soul; for God instructs us to live soberly having a clear mind, so that we do not fall into worldly temptations. There are enormous benefits for the Christian that upholds righteousness and godliness; he has the blessed hope of seeing Christ when He returns.

The world chooses leaders based on political parties, experiences and physical attributes, but God chooses leaders based on their hearts (1st Samuel 16:7). “…Know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts” (1st Chronicles 28:9). God is very serious about who leads his people. However, whom God chooses is not necessarily the people’s choice. God selects leaders who know Him, and desire to serve and obey Him. However, the world seeks after leaders who are willing to serve and obey it.

Perhaps we can go on forever comparing what the world thinks versus what God says, but we will just end up where we begin: everything that the world accepts, believes and supports that is contrary to the Bible is rejected by God. No matter how the world tries to do good or how much it talks about it, God will never accept the world’s goodness because of impure motives. The world is always seeking some type of gain, “These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage” (Jude 16).

There are a great number of activists or human-interest seekers floating around in attempts to make the world a better place, but in actuality they are either attempting to ease their own guilt or support that which has personally touched their lives. Their service becomes man or self-pleasing and not God pleasing. When man operates under his will, even though it is of good intentions, it is not God’s will therefore being imperfect. Christians should aspire to be in God’s perfect will, for the Bible declares in Romans 12:2 “…do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Thinking like the world, living like the world and being a part of the world is out of the will of God. Christians may live in the world but the world should not live in them, for greater is He who is in us than he that is in the world (1st John 4:4b). Before I close this chapter and move on to the next, I would like to leave you with a final scripture to think about: “…Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” James 4:4.
